Day 337 / A Paper Cactus For Wendy

February 6th, 2011

Super bowl sunday and the first time in two weeks that I’ve had a day off!

We had our friends Jeff and Wendy over to our place for breakfast.  The afternoon was spent installing a couple of pendant lights over my dining room table.  We picked them up almost a year ago on craigslist so the installation was plenty overdue.

They look great though and they provide me with much better light for working on my projects.

In the process of installing the lights I found a stash of #11 X-acto blades.  I remembered from Elsa Mora’s tutorial on papercutting that the #11 blade is the sharpest and most exact blade.

So tonight I decided to try another papercut.  This one is going to go to my friend Wendy as part of a challenge I accepted on Facebook.  I have to make something handmade for five of my friends.

The #11 blade was the bomb.  It was so much better than the one I’d been using.

I decided to add a texture to the cactus with a tool I found in Jenny’s sewing room.

I’m pretty happy so far with how it’s turned out.  It’s still unfinished as of now.
