My good friend Brian Keegan (aka. The Broiler) offered me the chance to make a beat for his forthcoming Swayze Memorial Album.  If you follow the blog you might remember me mentioning him before.  The dry-erase animation I worked on a while back was animated to one of his older songs.

He has a large collection of tracks that ranges from acoustic folk to Hip Hop. Unfortunately, his bandcamp page doesn’t have any of his previous work.  He happens to be the most skilled freestyle rapper that I’ve ever met and whether its rapping or singing, dropping beats or playing the guitar there is a short list of things that make a Broiler song a Broiler song.  To name a few, Taco Bell, Sasquatch, high-fives, dead legs, BMX, boobies, Northern California Pride (specifically, Bennet Valley), his six-inch you-know-what and his six-inch unibrow.  Oh, and most importantly, the 80’s.  Just about every Broiler song will bring back memories of growing up in the 80’s.

So last night I decided to put a little effort into making this beat.  I decided that if I were to make a beat for a Swayze Memorial Album then I should create it out of clips from Swayze films.  Much of my time was taken up collecting the clips.  Once they had been collected and converted I had very little time to actually make the beat so I don’t consider this beat the final.  I cut it together in Final cut pro and all the sounds are directly taken from the films except for a little beatbox clip I recorded a long time ago from my friend Dave Lexan.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy the Swayze beat!
