Well, I’ve done it again. I’ve let the drawings build up again and waited a week or so to post. This last week was unprecedentedly busy for me. Three sizzle pieces that I have been working on for the past few months now all delivered on the same day, last thursday. I perhaps got a total of 8-9 hours sleep accumulatively between Monday and Thursday. It was pretty exhausting. I fit my drawings in wherever I could.
DRAWING 156 – STUUUUFFFF
I got into this soft shading method, inspired by my drawing from the night before. I didn’t put much effort into drawing anything that original but I was interested in shading it.
DRAWING 157 – SHADING IT UP
Still messing around with shading. The first drawing I drew during the day while hanging out with my buddy Jeff. The second one I lightly sketched during an intermission at Jenny’s choir performance.
DRAWING 158 – FOUND SOME NICE PAPER
Today was sunday. The day before I cleaned out a room in the house that tends to collect junk and I found a pad of nice drawing paper. I decided to draw something on it today.
DRAWING 159 – THIS GUY
Not much to show for. This monday I had to start from scratch on a new Muppet sizzle. There is a show in vegas next week called The Licensing Show. It’s like a convention for movie companies to show off they’re properties. This is the place that three of my sizzle pieces are going to show at. At one point they dropped my Muppets piece from the line-up, which I was totally cool with. Things were looking a little too busy. But last friday I got the call saying that the franchise peeps would like to try a new approach to the Muppet sizzle. So I worked all night on this day. This doodle was all I could find the time for.
DRAWING 160 – MOVEMENT
I went home from work today at about 7pm. I drew these body shapes just after putting Junebug to bed. I went to bed at 10:30 and set my alarm for 2am to head back to work.
DRAWING 161 – DELIRIOUS
This was an epic day. Wednesday the 12th. I had two other sizzle pieces that had been approved but needed to be on-lined and mixed. Much of the work was in After Effects because my sizzle pieces are pretty graphics heavy. Anyways, I worked from 2am until 11pm when I fell asleep on the couch at my office. I set my alarm for 3am. I needed to have both pieces completely on-lined by morning so the online video could go off to color correction. I barely got it all done by 9am thursday morning.
DRAWING 162 – GRUMPY APE AND BIKE
I was pretty tired on this day but overall relieved. I felt good for getting the job done without fucking up. I was pretty exhausted but in a good mood. Even though the ape might make you think otherwise. Really, I was in good spirits. Just ready for some sleep.
DRAWING 163 – DIVER AND CRUNKIN’ ZOMBIE
Today was nice and mellow. I got pretty good sleep and it was friday. Plus I’m happy because next week I am on vacation. Wednesday-Saturday of next week I will be camping in Big Sur. I’m so excited to wake up in my tent and have absolutely nothing on the schedule for a while. Not sure what’s going on with this drawing. I started drawing him thinking he would be a zombie. That was until I drew a sideways baseball cap on his head. Then suddenly he became some whacked out dancing dude with bad teeth. His hands are huge!
