Tonight was the friday night Artwalk in my hometown of Fullerton. First friday of every month they hold it and this evenings exhibit at the Magoski Art Colony was one of the best ones I’ve seen. It was about marriage equality and also the overall subject of gay rights. It was a great show with a lot of beautiful work. I saw my friends Jeff, Wendy and Nicole there. Jeff and Wendy are my neighbors up the street. We all decided to go over to they’re house and have a beer. I brought my sketchbook along since I had to draw something and Wendy and Nicole are both artists. We all decided to draw. It was Nicole’s idea that we draw each other. I drew my buddy Jeff and Jeff drew me, while Wendy and Nicole drew each other. It was a pretty hilarious experience.
Surprisingly, my picture of Jeff didn’t turn out that bad! His nose is a little epic and his face shape is a little over-longated but generally, it kind of looks like him. Jeff, at the time of course, was drawing me so for a while he put his hand up on his forehead like you see in the picture. It was lucky timing because once the hand found that position, the drawing became something else. Thats when I realized that this Jeff was in his Lake Tahoe cabin, probably sipping wine, by his roasty fire and kitty-cat.
Anyways, this drawing is a crack-up to me.
