Like so often, I didn’t get started on this project until late at night. I could’ve started earlier but for some reason I couldn’t get myself to do it.
I perused the internet for inspiration. I am still drawn towards working in Cinema4D. I decided to ultimately go back to a thought that I had on Day 247. On that day, I recreated the main character of the game King’s Quest in 3D. I decided tonight to create multiple positions to create a walk cycle.
The way I did it was I used screen capture software to record myself playing the online emulation of the game (which you can find here) and then I pulled the frames of a single walk cycle. I’m pretty sure I’m missing a frame or two because the program seems to run faster than the actual frame rate of the screen capture. I was too lazy to recapture at that point, though.
I organized the frames into a PDF document so I could flip the pages quickly and compare one frame to the next. Then I duplicated the character’s position that I had created in Cinema4D and repositioned the cubes that needed moving to create the new position. Ultimately the animation you see above is made up of 5 positions running at 8 fps.
