Yesterday was very busy. Jenny got up at 7am and left to help our friends Jeff and Wendy with their 2nd Operation Art Gardens Cactus and Succulent sale. It’s a sale and fundraiser that Jeff put together to help the arts at the public schools he teaches at. He puts a lot of work into the preparations. I did an interview with him on Day 028 at the first OAG sale which I also worked.
Today though was all about watching and entertaining June. I initially thought that my parents would be able to help and I could steal away to work on my Harmonograph table but I found out that they were spending the weekend with some former neighbors in Palm Springs.
I watched June until about 3pm until Jenny got back and I was able to steal an hour nap. Then, I was off to Burbank to cover a shoot. The shoot went on until about 11:30. I didn’t get back home until 12:30 in the morning.
I had no idea what I was going to do. I went through ideas in my head as I drove home but I couldn’t come up with anything that I head energy for. I thought I might open up an old jam and arrange it into a song like I did on Day 188 but even that seemed like too much work.
As I perused the internet looking for inspiration I caught sight of my soda on the coffee table. It had condensation around the bottom of the cup and I noticed the light pattern being projected on the wood shelve below. I thought is was quite pretty. I began to mess with the water a bit, making shapes with it.
I started to snap some pictures of it. If I was really being creative I would’ve gotten out my tripod and filmed some video of it because the movement was also quite beautiful. Due to my level of exhaustion I opted for stills.

these are really pretty actually. mission complete. BTW I’m bummed I didn’t know about that succulent sale earlier.
I’m constantly amazing how you seem to pull these things effortlessly out of your hat. Kudos.
Thanks guys! I felt really unsure about this post but once it was organized and put together I felt more comfortable with it. Rabbitears, too bad you couldn’t make it. I think Jeff will be having them more often because his accumulation of succulents has pretty much surpassed the amount a single day can sell. I’ll always post a reminder when they come along.
beautiful shots! love the vibe =)
creative without even trying!
