Day 039 / Developing Software

I decided on my drive home that I wouldn’t have enough time to realize a particular idea I have for using the graph paper from yesterday.   So I decided to switch gears and go into something that I haven’t touched for awhile, my application 64(Video)Fingers.   It’s an application I developed for the Monome where you can trigger video clips.

This latest version I have been working on adds a toggle page where you can quickly access an allotment of video and audio efx.   Each effect has 5 presets that you can save.  You can also set the effect to be modulated by an synced LFO or random generator.  The effects themselves come from a software developer/VJ named vade and he was kind enough to let me use them for my app.

Tonight I worked more on the slots themselves.  I’ve been trying to develop a better way for each slot to know it’s own status.  The way it works now is fine but it could be much cleaner which would make feature additions easier to implement.   I can’t wait to finish this incarnation of the app. Every time I work on it I start to realize that I need to create more art with it.   There’s a lot of potential uses for this app which I need to exploit.

If you are a monome user or even just a fan then you’ve most likely seen the video below but for all of you new here that have never seen it, please do watch and enjoy.  It’s the demo video I made for my application 64(video)Fingers.

Man, watching this again makes we want to record the band at my school even more. Let’s get on that soon.

Totally dude. I know what you mean. I need to play more with this stuff. Maybe we can try to do it just before summer hits.
