I had this idea a couple days ago and it really sparked an excitement in me. I thought of graph paper and how it would make a really neat and interesting medium for some kind of art project (collage specifically came to mind). I researched the types of graph paper and found out that there was a huge assortment of many many kinds of graph paper. Each sheet having a different pattern and size and shape.
Tonight I decided to cut together a little nature scene complete with mountains, trees and animal life. I think certain aspects of it came out pretty good like the mountains but other things like the deer and trees tended to blend into the background a little too much. But I also think that I’m just learning how to do this stuff at this point. I really feel like I may be only scratching the surface of what might be possible using graph paper as a medium for collage. Anyway, this week could end up being themed graph paper week. We’ll see how it goes.

Just browsing through your archives (instead of folding the laundry like I should, thanks for the distraction), and just wanted to say: this totally deserves a comment. So, here’s your comment. It’s rad. I dig. I want a giant one on my wall.
Thanks man. When I look at it I think I should’ve made the deers and trees pure white or black.
Ahh, “should” or “shouldn’t…” ? I don’t know. I like it the way it is. They blend in just enough. Kind of like an old magic eye poster. Kind of.
