I can’t believe I did this one with the time and energy that I had left.
I had a late call time to set today, about 11:30, which means that my camera crew and I weren’t going to wrap until very late at night. It was about 11pm when we called it and I wasn’t even home until midnight.
As I was driving home I thought about my experiments with the dip-pen. I thought I could do another drawing for tonights creative thing but I wasn’t sure what to draw. Then I thought about my watercolors and how they might work well with the dip-pen. I pictured myself drawing with the pen first and then filling in the outline with watercolor. Then, I sort of skirted the whole idea aside because of the time. I didn’t think I’d be able to do it and get to bed on time.
I got home and perused the internet a bit. I decided I could possibly have the time to do a landscape if I used broad washes of color. I found a good reference image to work from from my Day 217 / Desert Sunset video.
I think it turned out pretty good. I did the watercolor first and then filled in the silhouette with ink.
At the end of the process I had to decide, splatter or no splatter. I decided to splatter and I think it worked out all right.
