It’s like each one of my watercolors gets incrementally uglier as I try them. I’m not going to take it too hard since it was an experiment. I started this one with the goal of trying out a watercolor technique called wet on wet. It’s where you use excess water on the canvas and then you add the pigment, which should be somewhat wet as well. The effect is the bleeding and blending of the color. The technique itself is pretty hard to reign in so at a certain point I threw caution to the wind and went a little crazy with the effect.
I like the effect on the sky portion of the painting but beyond that I’ll chalk it up to experience. For the next watercolor I plan on drawing it first with a pencil. Funnily enough, I’ve never done that.
On a side note, the animation from yesterdays project finished rendering and I finally got it uploaded.
