I spent the night at my office printing pictures until about 3am. I woke up this morning and kept printing. It was a day off from normal work duties. My goal was to get my print as much as I could by the days end.
Jenny called in the middle of the day and asked if I could stop by ikea to pick up a children’s table and chair set that they were selling for 20 dollars. While I was there I spotted this mirror. It was a classic wall mounted mirror which had arms that allowed it to expand and retract. The moment I saw it I thought of my Pinto-graph machine.
The arms were scissor-style. Exactly the kind of design used for the arms of the pinto-graph. I thought if I were to mount these arms onto my motor attachments I would get much larger drawings from it. Plus they were made of metal and much higher quality then the arms I made from basswood. The clincher was that the mirror was only five dollars.
I was pretty exhausted from the long printing session and when I got home the only thing I wanted to do was tear apart this mirror. I brought it into my studio and found a drill bit that matched the size of the rivets holding it together. Then I proceeded to drill each of the rivets out.
It was actually very easy to do. I thought about getting out my sawhorses and making new disc attachments but I didn’t have the energy for it. I am looking forward to building this guy though. I think it will be a pretty simple procedure to construct and I can’t wait to see how big the drawings turn out.
