Day 343 / The Ultimate Bubble-Maker

February 12th, 2011

It was a pretty full day.  I spent much of the early hours prepping the photos on my blog for printing for the art show.  It’s going to be an epic print order to say the least.

At 2 pm it was Junie’s nap-time and I fell asleep next to her.  At 4, I was off to my Dad’s house to help him install Windows 7 on his mac laptop.

On the way over I stopped by the hardware store and picked up some cotton rope and some twine.    You see, back on Day 201 / Giant Bubbles I made a large bubble blowing device.  I was inspired by the now very popular video you can watch below of a man creating whale-sized bubbles at Stinson Beach.  The device I made on Day 201 worked pretty well for creating some pretty large bubbles and I learned a ton about mixing a strong bubble mix, but they were nowhere near the size I saw in that video.

I decided that I was going to recreate that video myself with an even larger bubble blower.  Now that the blog is getting closer to the end I’m remembering those things I’d wanted to do but never gotten around to it.  This is one I want to fulfill.

I started assembling it at my dads house while installing his software but I didn’t finish it until late tonight.  Jenny and I went out for an early valentines date.  We had dinner and then picked up a movie.

When I got home I looked up some knots on the net and went with the double fisherman to join the ropes together.  Then I used the twine to tie the ropes to each fishing pole.

I wasn’t able to test it out, but if it does work the bubbles should certainly rival those seen in the video from Stinson Beach.

Not sure when the video will happen.  Probably next weekend when I can get some friends together to go to the beach.
