It was a pretty hectic day on the set today. I did three major interviews. We were shooting in a strip mall in Pacoima and it was windy, noisy and full sun, not the greatest factors for shooting interviews. We had to move our setup into an old insurance office that the company had rented for holding. It was an ugly backdrop that we tried our best to decorate with film equipment. The interviews went off well and that made up for all the craziness of the morning.
After work I drove straight to the grandparents house because they’re watching after June while Jenny is vacationing in San Francisco with her girlfriends. After June was fast asleep I headed home for tonight’s creative project.
I knew that I wanted to continue yesterdays concept of recapturing computer animation on paper. I bought three black printer cartridges because I wanted to get a lot of pages printed. I was very dissappointed with how the cartridges performed. I got maybe 20 pages printed at fast draft settings with low ink until the cartridge was completely out!
I know that my pages were pretty black heavy but 20 pages is nothing! I decided to skip ahead in the animation to a section that is mostly white. I was able to print about 240 pages total. I realize that the next time I try this experiment I should opt for the laser printer at the office. Inkjet’s plain old suck when it comes to larger numbers in prints.
I’d love to spend an entire day doing this if I can find the time. I love the way it looks and I’d love to play around with the angles and backgrounds.
Anyways, here is the 12 seconds of material that I finally got captured tonight.
Enjoy!
