I set my alarm for 3:30am this morning and got out of the house around 4am. I was off to the office early because I had a rough cut due the next morning and I was sheduled to be working on the set of The Muppets both of those days. An obvious conflict. I should’ve come in on the weekend to get the work done but I wasn’t interested in giving up that time. So, I was in early to get a little extra cutting done before I handed it over to another editor and was off to the set.
I was on set by 9am and spent the entire day there. Around 7 ‘o’clock in evening I made it back to the office to see how things were going on the cut. My co-worker had covered the piece with shots and fixed it up but I still was not happy with it. The problems had nothing to do with his adjustments but were with the way beginning and the end were structured.
I decided to stay at the office and finish it for tomorrows delivery. It wasn’t long before 1am rolled around and I knew that I was going to be spending the night. I finally finished my edit around 3am and was flabbergasted now that I had to come up with some creative thing to do before I passed out on the sofa.
I had no real energy to do anything too complex. I was incredibly lucky to remember the mirrors in the passenger seat of my car. I stopped by a yard sale this weekend and spotted a large stack of small mirrors being sold for two dollars. I bought them with another creative project in mind.
But tonight they were a boon in a time of desperation. I set them up in a couple of configurations and went about taking pictures.
