Day 267 / The Final Eyes

This Sunday I worked on set.  I got out around 6pm and had to go to the office to quickly deliver a shot to a client.  Luckily, I was home in time to see June before she was off to bed.

I didn’t want to consider editing this video as my creative thing for the day.  I only had the ending to finish up and I thought I’d get home and quickly finish it and then move on to something else.  The plan was a patch on the modular.  What ended up happening is that worked on the montage until my 2am bedtime.

It was a pretty tough one to edit.  I still am quite critical of the final product.  I guess that’s just the way it goes though.  Something could always be better.  The music was more of a challenge to cut to than usual because it doesn’t have a steady beat.  Also the footage is a little shaky so it was hard to smooth the edits.

I can certainly say though, that I now know the very minute intricacies of many of my friends eyeballs.  I do think the variety is extremely beautiful.  Such amazing objects.  The texture of the iris varies between looking like fur to torn fabric to fine sand.  No one has a single eye color as well.  There are a wide array of colors deep in there.  It’s surprising how many yellows and oranges there were.  You don’t think of yellow or orange as an eye color.  And the movement of dilation is amazing.  The way the ridge between the pupil and iris contracts like elastic.

It’s interesting to me that each of these eyes belongs to a close friend of mine and yet when you see them this close up you don’t recognize the person anymore.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy.  The music in the piece is from an album called A Funneled Stone by an artist named Stretta.  You can download it here.
