It’s going to be a busy weekend. I’m working on the publicity for a film that starts shooting this week and I have to be on set both days this weekend. Plus, our friends are throwing a friends-giving dinner this saturday night, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you see my posts for this weekend go up sunday night or monday morning.
Today was a crazy day. There are multiple projects happening at the office that I am looking after as well as editing and there’s the prep for the shoots happening this weekend. So I have been running around quite a bit. My car was finally fixed today and I am happy to have it back. It cost me an arm and a leg so it better last me another 100,000 miles.
I needed to go to bed as early as possible tonight because there is a pretty early call time for me tomorrow morning, so I decided to do a project that was tangible. I didn’t know what exactly I was planning on doing but I got out my art supply box and pulled out some pencils.
I drew a random squiggly line on a sheet of paper and looked at it a while.
I decided to cut out all the negative space from my squiggly with an X-acto knife. Once I was done cutting out the shapes I pulled out my watercolors. I did a couple quick flat-washes of color on the previous page in my pad. Finally, once the watercolor was dry I flipped my squiggly-line cutout over so it lied flat on top of my washes. The result was the streaks of color from my watercolors filling the negative space of my squiggly line.
I thought it came out pretty cool. I really enjoyed the process on this project.
Turned out really nice! Does it pop our or are those shadows added in?
This looks pretty cool. Nice.
Once again, you inspired me. Hope you don’t mind my trying out your idea.
Thank you for the inspiration!
