Day 164 / Room Tone Rhythm

My work is ramping up again.  The past two nights have been reminisient of my experience working on Toy Story 3.  Leading up to the release of TS3 I was working all-nighter after all-nighter.  This time is not nearly as bad but the next week and a half are going to be busy.

So, I’m back to figuring out how to do my creative thing while at the office.  This particular creative thing sounds boring at first but it turned out surprisingly cool.  It’s kind of a throwback to my previous office instruments posts.  I did a few of those posts.

I filmed and recorded the room tone of various places throughout the office.  Each location has it’s own unique sound.  After I collected the footage I brought it into final cut pro for editing.  The concept was I’d start off slow and then ramp up until the room tones are quickly being sequenced one after the other.  Eventually, they are going by so fast that it turns into a room tone rhythm.  I also got a little crazy with the editing.

Check out the video!  And I recommend listening with headphones if you don’t have external speakers.  The true beauty of these sounds can’t really be appreciated on laptop speakers.

I hope you enjoy!

Sorry I haven’t replied yet. I forgot to ask my co-worker today. Not sure yet where we got it.
