Drawing 126 – June’s Stuffed Animals
After June was off to bed I came back out to the living room and these guys were sitting next to me. So that is what I drew.

A little drawing from life. A work glove in the backyard.
It’s been a while since I have posted! Whew! I am happy to say that I have done a bit of drawing each and every day since but I have let the posting duties completely fall by the wayside. And I’ve waited so long that the act of posting has snowballed into a much larger […]
This was drawn late in the evening on Saturday the 1st. The same day that I posted my long “catch-up” post on the previous page. I spent a good portion of the day scanning and preparing all the pictures from the past but left only the last part of the day for my actual drawing […]
Saturday night I had a good conversation with my friend Wendy about drawing. I made mention of seeing those kinds of beautiful graphite drawings where the artist so delicately renders the shading that the image seems to glow. This drawing certainly doesn’t but I decided to draw this little shady box sunday afternoon while hanging […]
Monday. Today. Drawing actually drawn and posted on the same day! Wow, I’m so proud of myself. Anyways, turned out to be a pretty nice monday. Attended a retirement party for one of my clients. A great man and an influence on my editing career. He was a great supporter of me and he has […]
My buddy Jared helped me a ton today figuring out how to customize this website. You need to check out his site, uprlip.com. He is doing a photo-series a day this year and his photography is absolutely beautiful! This drawing is based on his most recent post, Day 155 Not Now Not Never. My drawing […]
This drawing is a recollection of an image I once saw hanging on the walls at Pixar. It is unfinished at the moment because I drew it with the urge to practice soft shading. At this point it is ready for the shading to begin.
I practiced my shading tonight. I focussed on my stroke and tried to keep it tapered and consistent. I’m pretty happy with the results. Possibly some of the best shading I’ve done yet.
Well, I’ve done it again. I’ve let the drawings build up again and waited a week or so to post. This last week was unprecedentedly busy for me. Three sizzle pieces that I have been working on for the past few months now all delivered on the same day, last thursday. I perhaps got a total […]
First day of vacation! It was a beautiful day off. I picked up some camping supplies for Big Sur, including a tent. Friends came over to discuss the the trip. I built the tent in the backyard and Junebug and I camped out over night in it. I doodled these guys over beers with friends. […]
Fathers Day! Another beautiful day! Woke up early in the morning in a tent in the backyard with my daughter. I had a golfing date with my dad. It was a special occasion because my dad absolutely loves golf and this was really the first time I’ve ever played with him. It was a lot […]
Got a new sketch book today. I spent the day running errands and collecting stuff together for camping. I didn’t start drawing anything until it was much too late in the evening. My eyes were barely staying open while I drew these. You can tell my heart wasn’t in it. Just fulfilling a quota this […]
Today, tuesday the 18th. Spent the day hanging with my daughter and then cleaning the house up for our trip tomorrow. Early tomorrow morning the family and I head up to Big Sur for a weekend of camping. I most likely won’t be posting my drawings for the rest of the week until Sunday evening. […]
Wednesday through Saturday of last week we spent camping in Big Sur. I’ve never been there but I had a great time. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. It was interesting to have gone from one of the busiest weeks ever to suddenly laying in a tent with nothing to do except for swim […]
A nice mellow monday back to work. I should have posted this one and all the Big Sur drawings this evening. Instead I decided to just keep shading this guy and not open the laptop.
This evening I found a photo from Apocalypse Now and drew a small portion of it. I started this exercise as a 3 minute drawing attempt but then decided to spend more time on it afterwards.
This evening it took me a while to figure out what to draw. Eventually, I found my way to the super neat gif tumblr “If We Don’t, Remember Me”. That’s where I found this screenshot from a film called “Mr Hulot’s Holiday”.
Tonight I tried to draw another screenshot from a movie. This one is from “Alien”. It started out fine enough but as I began to shade it with darker pencils, I had trouble creating a smooth gradations. I kept trying to fix it by moving on to darker pencils but eventually I ruined it. As […]
