My M.A.S.K. Video

This is a video I cut together for fun back in 1998.  I’ve decided to share it with you.

I was in college and under the influence.  I popped in an old VHS tape of this TV show M.A.S.K from the 1980’s.  In the background was the song “Intergalactic” by the Beastie Boys.  I noticed how nicely the rhythms matched between the rapping of the Beastie Boys and the mouths of the M.A.S.K. characters.  Suddenly, I knew what I had to do.

Unfortunately, I’ve had trouble keeping this video on the internet without EMI coming in and claiming copyright on it.  Lately, I’ve been trying to think of a new way I present it on the net and without it being pulled for copyright.  This is how I’ve decided to get around it.

(By the way if you live outside of the U.S. I believe you can watch the original version without a problem.  Otherwise, you have to follow the instructions below.)

INSTRUCTIONS:  Click on my video below and let it load but don’t play it yet.  Then click on this link and load up Intergalactic song from the video on that page.  Once they’ve both loaded up, set each of them at the beginning.

Now start playing my video. You will see a countdown come up. Now get ready to press play on the Intergalactic video. At the end of the countdown you will see the word “NOW” flash suddenly. Quickly! Press play.

That’s it. You should be pretty synced up.  One way to know: the beat drops when the meteor lands.

I hope you enjoy!

There is a way to get around the problem of getting the song to play at the right time. Have a look here:
    http://youtubedoubler.com/1luu

It lets you put two youtube sites on at the same time.
Just sync up the times of the song to your video and you are good to go!

Oh Snap! That’s perfect. And you can assign the sync point and everything? I will have to give it a shot. Thanks a lot for the heads up!

Bummer. I can’t seem to get them to really sync up consistently. Even with the “sec. delay” setting it seems to be impossible to get a good sync from it. Still, it’s a very cool thing to know about.

No worries, at least you know for future reference, and it’s a handy site to have in your arsenal.

Hah, sweet. Took me a few tries to get it synced close enough… actually whatever I did this last time seems perfect. Sweet link.
