Day 256 / Modular Screen-Print Design

Last night was a little frustrating even though I pretty happy with the outcome of my creative project.

Initially, I was going to do something completely different.  I was going to edit a video together that was filmed quite a long time ago but unfortunately one of my drives completely failed.  I have most of it backed up to another drive so I’m not losing too much information but half of the footage for this particular video is now completely gone.  I spent most of the evening trying to get my drive back online for enough time to get some of the files transferred over.  Unfortunately, it never happened.

So late last night I had to change gears.  I decided to work on some more designs for screen-printing over at my buddy Dean’s house.

Last Sunday, when I got to do my first screen-print I suddenly saw the benefit in designing something simple.  With hardly any experience under my belt I realized I should just focus on doing something with two or three layers of color.

Between Days 179 and 181 I set out on the very ambitious goal of designing a very complex modular synth within Inkscape.  Day by day I created little component after little component.  Eventually, I realized I had designed myself into a corner and that there was no simple way to combine all these components into one.  This evening I decided to simplify, simplify, simplify.

I think it turned out pretty cool.  The synth I based it on was an EMU System.
