Day 087 / Writing Excercise: The Innocent Bystander

I haven’t sat down and written something for a very long time.  As I will always consider myself an aspiring filmmaker it’s important for me to keep practicing my writing.   So tonight, Day 087, I decided to do my first writing exercise.

The subject I came up with is completely random and I think it’s funny how it popped into my brain.  It came to me on my drive home.  I have always loved the film Pulp Fiction.  Actually, when it came out in theaters I went to go see it a whopping 9 times!  I thought of the scene where Butch, Bruce Willis’s character, runs into Marcellus Wallace carrying donuts across the crosswalk.  Butch runs him over and ends up in a car accident.  After Marcellus comes to he spots Butch across the street being helped by a couple bystanders.  One of which gets shot.

I have always remembered this woman who gets shot.  I think its because of the outfit they gave her to wear that makes her stick out so well in my mind. Plus that writhing and screaming she does on the concrete helped as well.  Just by looking at her you can tell that either Quentin Tarantino or his costume designer were thinking about type.

So, for my writing exercise I decided to write a short character exposition about her.  Click here to read what I wrote.

Enjoy!

I liked that story. You brought me into the scene and I visualized what you described. Nice job.
