Day 036 / Sunday Dinner

Today was my first cooking project.  To some of you out there this may not seem so creative but for me it’s completely creative.  I never cook and I’m always jealous of those people that find great joy in cooking food.  So this was a first move in that direction.

I decided to go rather epic for my first time.  The main course was a vegetarian meal called  Eggplant, Parsnip and Cashew Biryani.  The instructions were a seriously long and detailed list of instructions with a simmer for 30-40 minutes here and a let sit for 30-40 minutes there and a transfer to casserole and bake for 30 to 40 minutes as well.  Then there was the appetizer, Greek cheese and potatoe patties.  Needless to say it was a very long cooking session.  Three hours to be exact.

My wife Jenny took on the cucumber salad which was super good actually and also a beautiful stack of homemade Naan bread.  We invited our neighbors Mark and Amanda and our buddies Jeff and Wendy over to enjoy the final meal, which made it all the better.

Because I considered tonight a special occasion I decided to crack open one of my bottles of Slovenian Schnapps.  I got this stuff while I was working on Prince Caspian and the first time I tasted it I knew I needed to buy as many bottles as we could legally take home.  The flavor we had tonight was walnut.
