I’m surprised I actually made it through this one tonight.  I know Jenny can be unhappy with the kind of late nights that end up happening with these creative projects but this one was just too cool to post anything partial (Thank you sweetie!).  It’s a 3D zeoptrope being spun on a record player.  It’s inspired by this video I saw on youtube where a person does basically the same thing.

32 frames of video spinning at 45 rpm filmed with a camera at 24 fps with a high shutter speed = magic.  I filmed it with my 7D and the rolling shutter was a major issue for this experiment, so everything looks like its leaning over to one side.  Still, it looks pretty cool in my opinion. Also the audio you hear in the video is the actual audio that goes with the video clips on the record.  I hope you enjoy!

    wow.
    a great idea.
this could be extended into something reeeeally cool.
have lots of rings of pictures each with a different instrument – detachable and interchangeable.
maybe us rfid or a webcam (tags?) so a computer knows which are on the turntable.
the you could use a ms. pinky vinyl and hook it up to max and play then relevant audio loops to what you have put on the turntable.

i think that would be a very cool and interactive project/installation?
drop me an email if you want to take it further!
